The Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, stated that the Agency possesses the data, software, personnel, and protocols required to derive geospatial information and mapping at an intercontinental level.
He made this statement while receiving an award from the representative of Sambus Geospatial Limited in his office in Abuja.
The Director General, who expressed gratitude to the Sambus team for the recognition, noted that NASRDA remains committed to adding value to all relevant stakeholders in the geospatial industry.
He explained that the award presented is in recognition of the Agency’s exceptional work in satellite imagery and geospatial mapping, and serves as motivation for the Agency to achieve even greater feats.
According to Dr. Adepoju, the recognition of giant strides within the Agency extends beyond himself and includes members of his dedicated staff.
He acknowledged the Director, Strategic Space Applications, Dr Godstime James, and his team, who received an award in China for their innovative use of LASAK data in problem-solving, as well as Ms. Jagila Jantiku, who emerged second place in a global competition held in China.
He urged all members of staff to consistently deliver optimum productivity, emphasizing that recognition of excellence should cut across all cadres.
In her remarks, the Representative of Sambus Geospatial Limited, Mrs. Angela Anyakora, commended the Director General and the NASRDA team for their significant contributions to providing geospatial solutions in Nigeria.
She stated that the Director General, represented by the Director, Space Enterprise, Dr. Idris Jega, at the ESRI User Conference in Lagos, organized by Sambus Geospatial Limited, delivered an insightful and enlightening keynote address.
She further stated that NASRDA was setting the pace by setting up platforms for private sector collaborations that would ultimately benefit the entire country.
Mrs. Anyakora added that Sambus Geospatial Limited looks forward to future collaborations with the Agency.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Recognition by Sambus Geospatial limited and their ESRI team to the Director General.
