The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has said that security remains the hallmark of every successful organization, stressing that no institution can achieve excellence without a strong and reliable security framework.
Dr. Adepoju made this assertion during the official inauguration of the Space Intelligence Unit (SIU) at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.
The NASRDA boss who expressed profound delight over the establishment of SIU, described it as a testament to the Agency’s forward-thinking leadership and renewed commitment to institutional discipline, integrity, and protection of national space assets.
He noted that the creation of the unit and training of its personnel were carried out with precision and speed to meet the Agency’s security and operational needs.
While commending the Director Special Duties, Dr. Yusuf Olatubosun, for his steadfast commitment that has led to the successful realization of the initiative, Dr. Adepoju emphasized that the establishment of the SIU represents another milestone in NASRDA’s pursuit for excellence and organizational efficiency.
The NASRDA boss charged members of the newly inaugurated unit to take immediate steps to change the narrative surrounding the Agency’s security outlook, urging them to demonstrate professionalism, vigilance, and dedication in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He further directed that the issuance of staff identity cards be prioritized and expedited to facilitate proper identification and enhance security operations within the Agency’s various centres and laboratories.
Dr. Adepoju encouraged the newly trained personnel to remain steadfast, disciplined, and committed to their duties, warning against any form of intimidation, favoritism, religious bias, or harassment.
He assured them that management will provide the necessary logistics and equipment to support their operations, while upholding transparency, ethics, and institutional integrity.
In his remarks, the Director of Special Duties, Dr. Yusuf Olatubosun, expressed deep appreciation to the Director General for his visionary leadership and support, describing the SIU as a landmark innovation that will redefine NASRDA’s internal security architecture.
He explained that the training covered key areas such as intelligence gathering, ethics, discipline, and public service rules, all designed to strengthen the Agency’s internal control systems and operational stability.
Speaking on behalf of the newly trained officers, Mr. Innocent Idakwo thanked the Director General for the security reform initiative and pledged their commitment to achieving the vision so as to fulfill management’s expectations.
