The Director General and Chief Executive of National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has emphasized that collaboration with indigenous organisations, is vital for strengthening Nigeria’s security framework and advancing local technological capacity.
He made this known during a strategic engagement with the Chairman of Equipment and Protective Application International Limited (EPAIL, at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Dr Adepoju stated that combining NASRDA’s space-based capabilities with EPAIL’s defence manufacturing expertise, would enhance efforts to tackle insecurity, including insurgency and border threats.
He said that the partnership would enable the integration of satellite intelligence into modern defence systems, improving surveillance, threat detection and operational efficiency which will support local manufacturing of defence and space technologies, reduce reliance on imports, and create employment opportunities.
Dr Adepoju reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to a strategic collaborations, saying that NASRDA’s expertise in geospatial intelligence can support defence operations, disaster management, and infrastructure protection, while also promoting capacity building through training, research, and technology transfer.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Equipment and Protective Applications International Limited, (EPAIL), Engr. Kola Balogun, described NASRDA as a strategic partner, adding that both organisations stand to deliver life-changing solutions to Nigerians as their shared services and expertise are geared towards national development and improved security outcomes.
Balogun stressed that, these capabilities, when combined through effective partnerships, can help strengthen national security and advance defence industrialization in Nigeria.
