The Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has described continuous workforce learning as key to driving technological innovation and advancing Nigeria's space ambitions.
He made this remark during a workshop training on computer science and Space technology held at the Agency's headquarters in Abuja.
According to him, professionals within the sector must constantly update their knowledge to remain relevant in the rapidly evolving fields of engineering, computer science, and Space technology.
The NASRDA boss explained that the initiative was aimed at bridging critical skill gaps and equip participants with modern tools required for global competitiveness, a reflection of the Agency’s commitment to human capital development and innovation driven growth.
Describing them as giants on whose shoulders the Agency stands, Dr Adepoju commended the facilitators of the workshop and acknowledged their invaluable contributions to engineering, research, and technological advancement.
He further reaffirmed NASRDA’s unwavering commitment to building a workforce equipped with modern knowledge and practical skills necessary to position the Nigerian space sector to compete effectively on the global stage.
Dr Adepoju encouraged participants to maximize the training opportunity and utilize the acquired knowledge to engineer innovative solutions that will actively drive the nation's space programme forward.
In his presentation, the Director, Academy of Engineering, RUDN University Russia, Professor Yury Razoumny, encouraged participants to actively engage in the programme, particularly the application of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and satellite-based technologies in addressing complex global challenges.
Also speaking, the facilitator and Research Director, Dr. Francis Chizea, described the workshop as timely and relevant to the changing demands of the global technology landscape.
He also urged participants to maximise the opportunity provided by the training, noting that the knowledge and skills acquired would enhance research excellence, promote technological innovation, and strengthen engineering capacity.
The training is expected to equip participants with practical knowledge in computer science applications, engineering systems, space technologies, digital innovation, and other emerging technologies.
