As the global space sector evolves rapidly, the Director General and Chief Executive of NASRDA, Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has charged staff to embrace continuous learning and professional development as essential tools for career growth, excellence and Nigeria’s advancement in space science and technology.
Dr. Adepoju gave the charge at the closing ceremony of an internal training programme organised by the Department of International Cooperation and Linkages in collaboration with the Department of Planning Policy and Research at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.
The NASRDA boss who was represented by the Director, Media and Corporate Communications, Dr. Felix Ale, described the training as a timely investment in human capital development and a demonstration of the Agency’s commitment to nurturing a highly skilled and future-ready workforce.
He noted that professional growth requires willingness to acquire new knowledge and improve existing skills, stressing that employees who fail to develop their expertise could find it difficult to remain competitive in a rapidly changing professional environment.
According to him, the Agency’s reputation and international recognition place a responsibility on its workforce to maintain high standards of competence, professionalism and excellence.
The NASRDA boss, challenged staff to identify areas where they could make unique contributions, develop specialised expertise and emerge as pioneers in their respective fields, stressing that every employee has the opportunity to build a lasting professional legacy while contributing meaningfully to the advancement of Nigeria’s space programme.
He expressed appreciation to the organisers for their commitment, support, and dedication towards the successful implementation of the training programme.
Speaking earlier, the Acting Director, Department of International Cooperation and Linkages, Dr. Rakiya Baba-Maji, urged participants to maximise every learning opportunity available to them.
She described the training as an eye-opener capable of inspiring participants to pursue further knowledge and relevant professional certifications that would strengthen their individual careers and contribute to improved institutional performance.
Dr. Baba-Maji congratulated the participants and urged them to translate the knowledge acquired into practical contributions towards the fulfilment of NASRDA’s mandate of advancing space science, technology and innovation for national development.
Also speaking at the event, the Director, Policy, Planning and Research, Engr. Henry Akoma, encouraged staff to utilize the knowledge gained from the programme by broadening their expertise and sharpening their professional skills.
He stressed that the ultimate purpose of every training programme is to improve staff capacity and equip employees with the knowledge and competencies required to perform their responsibilities more effectively.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates to participants, marking the successful completion of the capacity-building programme.
