The Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to accelerating Nigeria’s technological advancement through partnerships and capacity building initiatives.
He made this statement while receiving a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Innovation Science and Technology on courtesy visit to keep the Agency abreast of the proposed official visit by a Korean team of experts to Nigeria and the Space Agency in particular.
The Director General who was represented by the Director of Mission Planning and Satellite Data Management, Dr. Abayomi Alaga, expressed enthusiasm over the proposed visit, noting that the anticipated platform presents an opportunity for the Agency to explore Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency and drive national development.
He further assured the delegation of the Agency’s interest and full support in a scheduled workshop with the Koreans experts, expected to focus on Artificial Intelligence and applicable areas in space science and technology.
Dr Adepoju reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to partnerships that promote technological advancement and National development.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Dr. Olayiwola Agoro said the proposed visit by the Korean team which is coming up in the first week of December is capable of strengthening Nigeria’s technological capacity through knowledge exchange and joint research efforts.
According to him, such opportunities are crucial for accelerating innovation, enhancing skills in emerging technologies, and positioning the country to compete favourably in the global digital space.
Dr Agoro, further explained that the visit will enable Nigeria to tap into the vast technological expertise of the Koreans and urged the Agency to take advantage of the Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) initiative of the Korean government in selected areas of technology development and infrastructure provision.
Discussions in the meeting ended on positive note with both parties looking forward with excitement to the proposed visit by the Korean team of experts.
The visit according to them will pave the way for possible areas of collaboration and mutual benefits in the realm of emerging technologies, human capacity building, and technology transfer in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration and Nigeria’s drive for digital innovation.
