In a bid to promote efficiency and enhance productivity among members of staff towards effective service delivery, the Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has emphasized the need for productive thinking and strategic engagement as a formidable pathway for the actualization of the Agency’s mandate.
Dr. Adepoju made this known during an interactive session with some technical departments of the Agency held at the NASRDA Headquarters in Abuja.
The NASRDA boss underscored the need for the Agency to play a more significant and strategic role in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
He urged staff at all levels to demonstrate commitment, innovation, and diligence in repositioning the Agency within the framework of national development.
Dr. Adepoju called on all technical staff to increase their levels of engagement and productivity, assuring them of management’s continuous support in developing their potentials and showcasing their unique talents.
He stressed that there will be no room for excuses, especially among the younger generation of scientists and engineers who must rise to the challenge of providing creative and innovative solutions that would transform the society.
The NASRDA helmsman directed all technical directors and divisional heads to develop strict schedules for their staff and ensure periodic monitoring, noting that such plans would serve as assessment measures for staff especially during promotions.
He also mandated the opening of a special register to monitor the activities of newly employed staff to ensure punctuality, discipline, and optimal performance.
Speaking further, Dr. Adepoju disclosed that henceforth, promotion and promotional activities within the Agency would be guided by the principles of promotability, and only officers who have made meaningful contributions to the Agency’s growth and development would advance in rank.
He added that this approach would replace the old practice where mere examination success often favored truants and absentees.
Speaking on behalf of the Directors present, the Director of Strategic Space Applications (SSA), Dr. Godstime James, appreciated the Director General for his visionary leadership and continuous support toward the success of departmental operations.
He said that productivity remains the central focus of all technical activities within the Agency, pointing that every member of staff must contribute meaningfully to NASRDA’s mission.
In his vote of thanks, the Director, Mission Planning and Satellite Data Management (MPSDM), Dr. Abayomi Alaga, also appreciated the NASRDA DG for his consistent encouragement and leadership direction.
He assured him of continued commitment and cooperation of all technical departments to work tirelessly in ensuring that the Agency fully actualizes its mandate for national transformation.
The interactive session had in attendance Directors and members of staff drawn from the Departments of Strategic Space Application (SSA), Mission Planning and Satellite Data Management (MPSDM), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre).
